This is a quick and easy way to serve up a most amazing dish, with the most amazing honey garlic sauce! It is super tasty, high in protein, and versatile – you could use beef, tofu, prawns, or fish instead! Don’t be fooled by the short list of ingredients, good cooking can be EASY AND FUN!!! This is an absolute fan fav at the Povhe house and freezes easily as well!
Ingredients
500 g/1 lb chicken breast, boneless and skinless, (2 pieces) – I usually triple!
Salt & pepper (I just use pepper)
¼ cup flour (Note 1)
3½ tbsp butter or 2 ½ tbsp olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 ½ tbsp apple cider vinegar (or white or other clear vinegar)
1 tbsp soy sauce, light or all-purpose (Note 2)
1/3 cup honey (or maple syrup)
Directions
Cut the breasts horizontally to create 4 pieces in total, and sprinkle with light pepper.
Place flour in a shallow dish. Coat chicken in flour and shake off excess.
Melt the butter (or is using oil) in a large skillet over high heat.
Place chicken in skillet and cook for 2 -3 minutes until golden. Turn and cook the other side for a few minutes.
Turn the heat down to medium.
Mix vinegar, soy sauce, honey, and garlic in separate containers and then add to skillet. Stir/shake to combine.
Bring sauce to a simmer, then simmer on low until the sauce thickens.
Turn chicken to coat in sauce, until sauce reaches desired thickness.
Remove from stove and place on rice or on the side. This dish also goes well with quinoa, corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, or mashed potatoes!
